Long, long ago (back in 2001), I felt like I was toeing the technological line when I moved my journaling to a “blog” on Xanga.com. I built friendships and connections as I made my way through college, making way into the work force, meeting my soon-to-be husband and marrying into the military.
I took breaks along the way but always came to back blogging. When military moves forced me to reconsider my career trajectory, blogging received more of my attention. Years, thousands of words typed, hundreds of connections made and I slowly built a career offering freelance writing, content marketing and blogging consulting services – all built off of my personal blogging.
Since I believe in the strength of community, I started looking for ways to connect and give back to my blogging community. I started niche influencer groups, including MilBlogging Buddies and Blogging From The Barn. These Facebook groups grew organically, offering bloggers a place to ask questions, learn and share opportunities. Over the last couple years, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching our members grow and develop some really spectacular talents and areas of expertise. Now, the question is most commonly “What’s next?”
BloggingInBalance.com developed out of my efforts to answer that question. The ability to work from home and develop a career that fits my lifestyle has been life-changing for me. I want nothing more than to offer that opportunity to everyone willing to put in the work.
